I Stand With Wendy

I took time during my lunch the other day to go by and witness a little bit of Texas history in the making. State Senator Wendy Davis (D-Ft. Worth) was just getting started on what ended up being a 10+ hour long filibuster to stop the Texas Taliban, aka the Texas GOP from ramming through some really tough anti-abortion legislation.

I wanted to catch a glimpse of the filibuster as it was happening. Not a singe news media outlet covered the event. My inner conspiracy theorist wants to believe that ALEC told the media to not cover the event if they knew what’s good for them. So, they didn’t cover it.

While the filibuster was going on, CNN was literally talking about whether or not Blueberry muffins make you fat. No local stations covered it either.

I found out about the whole thing, thanks to twitter and Facebook.

I’m glad that I was able to make it. Yes, I stand with Wendy and all Texas women’s right to choose.

Here are some of my photos from the Texas State Capitol yesterday. All of them were taken with my iPhone because I did not bring my big camera with me.
