Would it be any different if it were a Catholic church, or a Synagogue instead of a Mosque?
From a constitutional standpoint, I feel like they are within their right to build a Mosque at that site. We have freedom of religion in this country. The pilgrims on the Mayflower fled England and came here looking for freedom from religious oppression.
We don’t have to like the idea, I certainly don’t, but I see no legal reason for stopping them.
If the attacks had been carried out by people from the IRA or people from any of the extreme right groups in Montana, Texas, Arizona, or some other Christian militia group, would we want to stop a Christian church from being built in the same spot?
At the risk of coming across as an arrogant douche, I do not consider islam to be a real religion.
To me, there’s only 1 real religion and that’s Christianity. There’s a guy on one of the forums that I frequent that describes Christianity as: The belief that some cosmic Jewish zombie can make you live forever if you symbolically eat his flesh and telepathically tell him you accept him as your master. That’s pretty much spot on.
What I would like to see, is someone build a mega church 2 blocks from that place where they all walk around in a circle in Mecca. You know, the place where they keep that asteroid rock that they revere as a gift from their god.
I could go on for days about the a-hole muslims that want to kill us, about how muslims treat women, about the whole sunni/ shia hatred, among other things, but I won’t.
Without resorting to hate speech, tell me what you think about the whole mosque near ground zero thing.
