Bears Play Tough In 46-29 Road Loss
This is the game that I came to Corpus Christi to cover for my show.
CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Bears of San Marcos Academy entered their longest road trip of the season as big underdogs to Pope John Paul II, but they played up to their competition in a 46-29 loss at Centurions Stadium versus Pope John Paul II.
Entering the game John Paul II QB Blake McKenzie had passed for 926 yards and 10 TDs and rushed for 158 yards and seven scores. RB Jose Trevino has rushed for 222 yards and four TDs and Nick Vidal for 173 yards and three scores.
The home standing Centurions would score first with a 7-yard run by Jose Trevino, Shane Boyer blocked the extra point attempt, and that’s pretty much how the rest of the game went.
The Centurions would strike again with Trevino adding a 10-yard run for a 12-0 lead as the 2-point conversion was no good. The Bears closed the first quarter gap to 12-7 on a Diondrick McCoy 4-yard run with 1:36 left in the opening stanza after Memo Borrego’s extra point kick. The Bears rushed for 67 yards in the first quarter.
