Whatever did Happen To That Octopus?

Remember the last World Cup how there was an octopus that picked every winner in every game? Today’s Google Doodle reminded me about that whole thing.

If memory serves me right, the way it worked was that they’d place the same amount and kind of octopus food in 2 boxes. The boxes would be decorated with the winning team’s flag and whatever box the octopus ate out of, that team would win it’s match. It predicted the right team for the entire tournament.

It was pretty gnarly.

I don’t know anything about octopi, but I wonder if that one octopus is still alive or if it’s dead and eaten by now.

Thanks for the update! I figured he was dead since the doodle has a little halo ring, but I was too lazy to actually google it and find out.
